Information of the AGM Battery 12V 80Ah RITAR

The RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery is a 12V voltage battery, of the sealed monoblock type and, therefore, maintenance free, ideal for powering low power devices such as: alarms, lighting, telecommunication systems, television, laptop, small fridge, mobile charger, radio etc. and makes it ideal for use in caravans and small photovoltaic installations.

The AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery is a perfect battery for many types of use, since the AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) technology allows it to be used without the risk of electrolyte spillage caused by movements or displacements. It does not emit gases as the electrolyte is soaked in a membrane instead of being in a liquid state, which makes it a very safe battery for any use and to be indoors in poorly ventilated spaces.

Why is it inadvisable to connect the Ritar AGM 12V 80Ah Battery in parallel?

- The charging of the AGM 12V 80Ah Ritar battery in parallel is not carried out uniformly, so when receiving an uneven charge, the battery will commonly suffer, to a greater or lesser extent, sulfation and stratification of the electrolyte that will last until it is irreparable with the use.

- The aforementioned processes will cause differences in voltage between batteries, so the battery with a higher voltage will generate a discharge on the less charged battery in order to equalize voltages. For reasons of construction, this type of battery has very low resistance plates, so these uncontrolled discharges could cause irreversible damage to the battery as a whole, since this process would be repeated cyclically throughout the useful life until the collapse of the system. This happens both in AGM 12V 80Ah Ritar batteries and in any other type of AGM, GEL or open lead acid battery.

- In the most extreme cases, if a short circuit occurs as a result of a parallel connection, the battery could explode.

The batteries at the time of charging act as a resistance, that is, some batteries in series have an identical voltage, since they behave like a single battery, while some batteries in parallel or parallel series behave like an association of batteries in which there will always be small imbalances.

These small imbalances will mean that not all batteries have the same resistance to charging and therefore the most charged battery, having a lower resistance, will be the first to charge and the one with a higher resistance will be the last to charge because the current always look for the least resistance, the easiest way. In the same way as the discharges of one battery over another, this process will be repeated with each charge, and with each charge this imbalance will become greater, accentuating the initial problem.

How to use the AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery

The AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery does not require any type of maintenance. As it is a sealed battery, it is not necessary to monitor the liquid level of the water, as is the case with open lead-acid batteries. The RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery is responsible for recombining the gases that are generated, thus avoiding having to refill it with water from time to time.

In the event that the RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery is charged through a solar energy system or through an isolated solar kit, we must correctly size the solar installation so that the battery can have a long useful life.

In the event that the battery is charged through a conventional battery charger, this should not exceed 15% of the battery's capacity. For example, if it is a 100Ah battery, the battery charger should not exceed 15Ah of current. With this we prevent excessive gasification from being generated inside that could cause the deformation of its container.

Always charge the AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery through a charge regulator or a battery charger to maintain the voltage within adequate levels, in this case between 13.6 and 13.8V in the float stage. These AGM batteries do not require equalization, so you have to take into account that the battery must not exceed 14.4V in its charging process.

When installing the RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery, make sure that the connection cables make good contact with the battery terminals. To do this, tighten the screws that come in the same box. There are battery models that have a terminal equivalent to that found in vehicle batteries, so it will be necessary to have some terminals. If this is not the case, you can purchase them on our page at this link.

Technical characteristics of the 12V 80Ah RITAR AGM Battery

The dimensions of the RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery can be checked in the attached table and also in the technical data sheet at the top and bottom of this text. Make sure that the space you have (for example in the case of a caravan) is sufficient to accommodate it. It must also be taken into account that the working position of the battery is vertical, with the terminals facing upwards.

The optimal temperature at which the RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery works ranges between 5º and 25 °C, admitting working temperatures ranging from -20 to 60 °C. The temperature of the battery also directly affects the life of the battery, if it is kept between 10 and 20º its life expectancy is double that if it works between 25 and 35º. Keep in mind that for long periods without use, the RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery has a slight battery self-discharge when not in use.

The AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery has an approximate useful life of 1200 cycles with 30% discharge, which makes this battery one of the longest lasting compared to other models with similar capacities. On the other hand, if we carry out discharges deeper than 50%, we reduce its number of cycles to less than half. This must always be taken into account, the life cycles of the battery are directly related to the depth of discharge of the battery.

The AGM 12V 80Ah RITAR Battery has various charge measurements in Ah. The value of 'C10, C20 or C100' basically indicates the number of hours elapsed at a constant discharge until the battery remains at a certain voltage (10.5V) so that the battery gives its capacity in Ah. Various tests are done at various time intervals and the manufacturer chooses whether to mark the battery capacity as C10, C20, C100, etc. Make sure that the battery meets the required capacity so that its use is not at the limit of its possibilities and its life cycles are drastically reduced.

Maintenance AGM Battery 12V 80Ah RITAR

The RITAR 12V 80Ah AGM Battery does not require maintenance, since it is an AGM battery and due to its operation it does not require that its acid level be checked periodically.

Autosolar recommends that the battery be placed in its natural position and in a place protected from high temperatures, direct sunlight, rain or wind, to guarantee its durability and efficiency.
